Uninstall
Exit the simulator, stop the Map Enhancement service, and exit the application, then uninstall it through Windows Add or Remove Programs.
Do not delete application settings as the first response to an uninstall problem. If support asks you to reset the settings in C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming\msfs2020-map-enhancement, keep a backup by renaming that exact folder to an unused backup name while the app is closed. This can reset preferences and local license information; do not remove other AppData folders, scenery, or building packages. Keep the backup until the problem is resolved. To restore it, close the app and preserve any newly created settings folder separately before returning the backup to its original name.
If the simulator cannot connect after uninstalling, first back up C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts. With an administrator text editor, remove only the following entries if they remain from Map Enhancement. Keep all unrelated entries and comments; do not delete or replace the hosts file. Record the changes so you can undo just those edits if the test does not help. If access is denied or an entry is unfamiliar, follow Hosts file issues before making changes.
