Download and Installation

To download the software, you need to install these essential components:

• XPlane Map Enhancement
  • You can download the latest executable from the following GitHub repository: X-Plane Map Enhancement Release
• Base Package
  • Can be installed automatically. The base package contains essential map data required for proper software functionality.
  • There is no manual installation of base packages. The base packages are hosted on cloudflare. If you have network issue downloading the base package, please try to setup a http proxy or use VPN to download the base package.
• SimHeaven (Optional but highly recommended)
  • This is an optional package that enhances the map with additional scenery data. It is not required for the software to function, but it can improve the overall experience.
  • You can download SimHeaven from their official website: SimHeaven

For Mac Users#

Install macfuse through homebrew or download from https://github.com/macos-fuse-t/fuse-t/releases

brew install macos-fuse-t/homebrew-cask/fuse-t

Install other dependencies for aria2

brew install sqlite libssh2 gettext

Install .net sdk from https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet/thank-you/sdk-10.0.107-macos-arm64-installer or use

brew install --cask dotnet-sdk

Drag XPlane Map Enhancement application from the dmg file to the Applications folder to complete the installation.

For Linux Users#

Linux users need to install FUSE3, aria2, and .NET 10.0 runtime and ASP.NET runtime.

For Debian-based systems:

sudo apt install libfuse3-dev aria2 dotnet-runtime-10.0 aspnetcore-runtime-10.0

Install Base Package#

• First, configure your base package path in the software settings
  • Avoid using HDDs or external hard drives, as their slow read speeds may cause performance issues.
• Click the “Downloader” icon, select the base package you wish to download, then click the “Download” button or “Batch install”

winfsp-2.1.25156.msi (Optional)#

During installation, this will be automatically installed. If it fails due to any reason or if you previously installed an older version, please uninstall it and install the new version. Note: After installation, you must restart your computer.

If you encounter this dialog, it means the installation is already in progress. Simply click “Cancel”:

Setup antivirus software#

Antivirus software will scan the files in the background, which may cause the software and the game to freeze when loading. If you use microsoft defender, software will add the exclusion automatically.

Known antivirus software that may cause issues, please try to disable them or add the exclusion list:

Folders to add to the exclusion list:

• custom scenery folder
• base package folder
• file type: *.dds
