For MSFS 2020

Important Note#

Windows 10 is not supported. MSFS 2020 Map Enhancement requires Windows 11. Please upgrade your system before installing or using it.

1. Ensure Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 is NOT running before you begin. If the simulator is running when you click “Start Service” in the MOD, the service may fail to load.

2. Open the MSFS2020 Map Enhancement application and configure the settings correctly. There are two versions of the app — one for MSFS 2020 and one for MSFS 2024 — so make sure you are using the correct version. You should find two icons on your desktop after installation.

3. In Settings, leave Clean Rolling Cache when starting the service turned off; otherwise the service can report an error.

4. Check Network Options. Incorrect settings can prevent maps from loading or make terrain blurry.

   • Whether you need a proxy depends on access to your selected map providers, not their names. Google Maps, Apple Maps, and ArcGIS do not always require one. Leave the proxy address empty if direct access works; otherwise configure a proxy that can reach the selected provider.
   • Use the protocol and port shown in your proxy application, such as http://127.0.0.1:port or socks5://127.0.0.1:port, replacing port with the actual port number. Click Test proxy, then check that both your primary and fallback maps load; a successful proxy test does not guarantee access to every map provider.
   • If you use the UU accelerator, configure it in process mode. Other accelerators may need the same configuration or maps may fail to load.
   • If your router or a proxy application’s TUN mode already gives Map Enhancement working access, no additional in-app proxy is needed. When troubleshooting, use one proxy or accelerator method at a time to avoid conflicting rules. See how accelerators and proxies work.

5. If you need Professional maps, open the License page, enter the email and username used on the purchase page, then click Link Device. If linking succeeds, your license details will be displayed.

6. Return to the home page and select ArcGIS as the Primary Map, or Google Maps if you prefer. Use a provider your network can reach, configuring a proxy only if needed. For first use, select Bing latest version as the Fallback Map; it is used when the primary source cannot provide a tile. Check that both providers load.

7. With the simulator still closed, click Start Service on the Map Enhancement home page. Once the button changes to Stop Service, start MSFS 2020. If service startup fails, save and resolve the full error shown before continuing.

8. Pan the map or load a flight, then observe Loaded and Failed. Counters may stay unchanged when no map tiles are requested; you do not need to wait for a fixed count before starting the game. If Failed keeps increasing, run Network Diagnostic and check access to both your primary and fallback providers.

   

9. After the game is running, make sure to perform the checks below. Skipping them may prevent the map from loading, cause distorted map tiles, or in rare cases crash the game.

10. Verify you are shown as online on the game’s main screen.

11. In the game’s DATA settings, confirm that BING online map is turned on.

12. The Rolling cache option may be enabled. If you notice image-quality problems, try clearing the rolling cache or disabling it to see if that resolves the issue.

13. You should now be ready to play. If you encounter any problems, please refer to the FAQ for troubleshooting steps.
