Software Usage and Configuration

Initial Software Setup

  1. Important system check: If you have disabled the page file or set a size limitation for it, ensure you enable it and set it to be automatically managed by the operating system. Failure to do so may result in memory issues and cause crashes in the mod or X-Plane. If you’re unfamiliar with page file settings, you likely haven’t adjusted them and can skip this step.

  2. Before launching the game, open the X-Plane Map Enhancement application on your desktop.

  4. Once settings are configured, select your desired map (Bing or ArcGIS are recommended for beginners) on the main screen and click Start. The interface should display as shown below:

  5. Launch X-Plane, select an airport, and begin your flight.

  6. The software will load the map, and the “Loaded” counter in the “Network” section will gradually increase. Approximately 10,000 to 20,000 items will be loaded, depending on your computer and network performance. This process typically completes within 5 minutes. Loading times may increase with poor network conditions or lower system performance.

  7. If you observe a large number of “Errors” (>1000) and numerous black blocks appear in-game, this indicates network connectivity issues. Please check your network connection.

  8. To exit properly, you must close the game first, then click “Stop” in the enhancement application.

Explanation of the Main Interface

In the main interface, you can select different map providers such as Bing, ArcGIS, Google, and Apple. Each map has its own features and varying loading speeds. Feel free to explore and choose the one that suits your preferences and network conditions. Generally, for high-resolution coverage of China, Bing and ArcGIS are the fastest options and are worth trying.

You can switch maps during the game, but the changes won’t take effect immediately. X-Plane needs some time to load the latest images.
